Joanna’s September challenge

Local counsellor, Joanna Cooke is raising money for Launchpad this month by taking part in Challenge for Change – a worldwide movement which is a unique initiative, uniting businesses, individuals, employees, cubs and communities worldwide in a shared mission to improve the lives of children.

Throughout September, participants of Challenge for Change aim to cover 41,000 kilometres, the distance around the globe, by various means, to raise funds for local charities aimed at supporting the next generation, and Jo has chosen Launchpad.

Jo told us: “Challenge for Change was set up by a friend of mine, David, with the aim that anyone, anywhere in the world, could take on a challenge and raise money for local charities in their area to provide life-changing support to children in need.

“While Launchpad isn’t a specific children’s charity, I chose it because of the wonderful work that goes on at the work and life skills centre.

“As a qualified counsellor myself, I supervise the trainee counsellors who offer free counselling once a week to those who attend the centre.

“I was also incredibly moved by the speech made by Kirsti from Launchpad at the fabulous Solstice Swim event in June (I can’t wait for next year!) which inspired my husband and me to become regular monthly donors, as this helps Launchpad to plan their income stream.

“So, this month, I am walking and swimming for my part in Challenge for Change and raising money for Launchpad.

“A challenge like this keeps me happy, healthy and motivated. I haven’t set a target, it’s just simply to walk and swim as many kms as I can all through September.

“Please support me in raising much needed funds for Launchpad, with however much you can.”
