Sunset, serenity, and homelessness support

A sold-out crowd gathered to celebrate the longest day of the year on Saturday with mindfulness and purpose at our inaugural Solstice Sunset Swim.

Held at Dinton Pastures activity centre, the unique solstice celebration featured a rejuvenating blend of guided meditation, a healing sound bath and a restorative sauna experience.

Participants came together in a spirit of community and compassion, embracing the solstice as a moment of reflection and renewal. The event was a resounding success, with all tickets sold out well in advance.

The event raised £2,000 and resulted in some participants signing up to a regular donation the charity. We are extremely grateful to the local businesses who donated some fantastic raffle prizes (Float Zone Reading; Hot Pod Yoga; Novotel; Vegivores; Vino Vita; Gently Strong Yoga).

Thanks to the incredible support from attendees, volunteers, and local partners, these vital funds will go directly toward support people who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless.

“We are overwhelmed by the positive response to our first-ever solstice event,” said Fiona Keyte, Launchpad’s Fundraising Manager.

“It was beautiful, warm evening filled with peace, purpose, and generosity. Every pound raised will help us continue our mission to ensure that no one in Reading has to face homelessness alone.”

We are hoping to make the Summer Solstice Wellness Event an annual tradition, building on this year’s success to create even more opportunities for the community to come together in support of a vital cause.
