Launchpad is delighted to announce the appointment of Su Hamblyn as the charity’s new Chief Executive.
Su was Launchpad’s Director of Operations for six years before being appointed as Acting CEO when Ian Caren stepped down in October 2020. During her time at Launchpad, Su has been instrumental in growing our services – which has included the introduction of a drop-in service for anyone with a housing or homelessness issue and increasing the number of vulnerable people supported by over 350%.
Previously, Su was a senior manager in retail for 20 years and also held the role of Area Manager for a local housing association, where she had oversight of the organisation’s properties and support services. Su was motivated to join Launchpad to deliver holistic and innovative services for a charity whose values are aligned with her own.
Su said: “I am incredibly passionate about supporting vulnerable people to get back on their feet when life gets tough – and it is a real honour to be given the opportunity to continue leading the amazing work Launchpad’s staff, volunteers and trustees do to prevent homelessness in Reading.
“After a particularly difficult year where there has been flux and uncertainty in the charity sector, I am looking forward to a positive future where we can continue to develop our services, support more people in need, and provide more safe and affordable homes.”
Suzanne Stallard, Chair of Trustees at Launchpad, said: “After a rigorous selection process, everyone at Launchpad is delighted that Su Hamblyn has been appointed CEO. Su brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, a collaborative approach, and her style of leadership is a huge asset to the organisation as we plan for the future. The whole team looks forward to working with Su in her new role as we strive to achieve Launchpad’s vision and ambitions.”
