Our new work and life skills centre, Launchpad 135, opens its doors to clients

In 2019, thanks to a successful fundraising appeal and the generosity of our supporters, we were able to raise £80,000 to start work on completely refurbishing our work and life skills centre, Launchpad 135.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the consequent lockdown periods, the work has taken longer than expected, but the end results have been worth the wait – a modern, airy space with improved facilities for our clients.

Following the easing of some restrictions, our clients are now able to attend and safely resume a wide range of activities in small groups. From cooking, art therapy, DIY and gardening to CV creation and job searching, tea and typing, budgeting and counselling sessions –  our clients are benefiting from developing their skills and confidence in a more comfortable and up-to-date training environment.

A grand opening of the new and improved Launchpad 135 had originally been scheduled for this Summer, however with the emergence of the new Delta variant and restrictions being extended, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone this event until next year.

In the meantime, we will be offering private tours of the building to share the good work that has already begun at the centre, and showcase its future potential.

We are offering our donors and supporters the opportunity to book a private tour of Launchpad 135 over the coming months. If you would like to organise a visit, please email us at fundraising@launchpadreading.org.uk to book your slot.
