Launchpad is pleased to be awarded a £1,000 Movement for Good award from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group thanks to kind nominations from you – our fantastic supporters!
Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards is giving £1million to charities this summer, and we are lucky to have been selected as one of their charity winners!
With recent changes to the furlough scheme coming in, unemployment figures at a high and the other economic impacts of COVID-19 continuing to take its toll on our community, we are expecting to see an increase in the number of people coming to our drop-in centre for housing information and support, many of whom are likely to have never experienced homelessness before.. The money from Ecclesiastical Insurance Group will go directly towards our work supporting individuals experiencing hardship in Reading, preventing them from having to face the prospect of homelessness.
Members of the public were invited to nominate causes close to their hearts, with 500 gifts of £1,000 available for donation. Over 13,000 charities were nominated by more than 210,000 members of the public.
Kate Martin, Fundraising Manager at Launchpad, said, “Launchpad is thrilled to have been nominated for a Movement for Good award and receive £1,000. The pandemic continues to have a devastating impact on our community and will leave many more vulnerable as the months go by so we are incredibly grateful for these funds, which will go directly towards helping individuals facing housing crisis in Reading. We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who voted for us.”
