We are so pleased to announce that Launchpad was been nominated for a High Sheriff Award – which is a prestigious accolade given by Mary Riall, the High Sheriff of Berkshire, to recognise the exceptional work done by the county’s ‘unsung heroes’.
This year’s awards focused on the work undertaken during the pandemic and Launchpad was nominated for the continued support we have provided those who are vulnerable and isolated in Reading over the last year.
Mary said: “Covid-19 has dominated this year and I have been repeatedly amazed, uplifted and encouraged by the remarkable generosity and dedication of so many to help those in need by supporting their neighbours and the wider community. These awards are a chance to celebrate and thank our unsung Berkshire heroes.”
Kirsti Wilson, Head of Marketing and Fundraising at Launchpad, said “Of the people and organisations nominated, six were given a High Sheriff Award 2021 at a virtual ceremony on Thursday 18 March – and although Launchpad didn’t win, we are incredibly honoured to have been nominated.
“The High Sheriff Awards really do celebrate exceptional work across Berkshire and it’s a huge privilege that our support teams have been recognised. The charity has remained opened throughout and our staff have worked tirelessly to help people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home during the outbreak of COVID-19. We are certainly very proud of them!”
