Charlie Hill, branch manager at Davis Tate in Reading, will take on the London Marathon next April to raise money for Launchpad – and his training is already under way.
A keen runner, Charlie has completed the Reading Half Marathon a few times, but London will be his first full marathon – and what a race to begin with.
“I cannot wait to run this iconic marathon in aid of Launchpad, which is such a brilliant local charity,” said Charlie.
“I’ve known about Launchpad for years. I’ve had such fun taking part in Big Sleep Outs and estate agent staff from Davis Tate have dressed up and been part of the iconic Pancake Race on Shrove Tuesday for the past ten years.
“Now I’ve just been told it’s the 30-year anniversary of the Pancake Race in 2027 so next year will be extra special.”
Charlie is already running three times a week and has enlisted to help of a physio to make sure he is in top physical condition to take on the 26.2 miles on Sunday 25 April, 2027.
“I’m also doing a couple of strength sessions every week so I can truly say I’ve prepared for this experience. My father-in-law has run it, so has my sister, so there is some family rivalry and possible times to beat. But to be honest with you I think my aim is to get round in a good time, stay injury free and really soak up the atmosphere.
Charlie will be supported on the day by his wife and two daughters aged eight and 12, as well as wider members of the family and friends.
“I am so thrilled that Launchpad chose me to run for them. I am going to do everything I can to hit that £3,000 target I have set.
“Look out for some funny videos on Socials – which could include running to house valuations!”
