Christmas Present
Hello, my name is Mark*, and this year my Christmas will probably look a lot like yours – I’ll be eating good food and laughing with my family. That might sound ordinary, but for me, it’s incredibly special.
And it’s all thanks to the support I’ve had from Launchpad over the past two years.

Christmases Past
It hasn’t always been this way.
I’ve spent Christmas behind bars and more than one on the streets. My substance misuse took everything from me. My home, my job, my family, and eventually, my self-respect.
Christmas as a homeless person is the loneliest place you can be. Even if I visited family on Christmas day, I could never shake the feeling that I didn’t belong. Being homeless cut me off from the people I loved and from the life I used to have.
My recovery began three years ago, but everything changed when Launchpad gave me a home. After years of instability, having a safe place of my own meant I could finally focus on rebuilding my life. With their support I’ve now been in recovery for 18 months.
Christmases Future
Now, I’ve got a few Christmases to make up for.
I’m reconnecting with my family, planning for the future, and working towards getting back into employment, with Launchpad helping me every step of the way.
This year, when I sit down at the Christmas dinner table with my family, I’ll be thinking of everyone who made it possible, people like you.
