When did you join Launchpad and what attracted you to the job?
I joined the Floating Support team on January 4, 2023. I was attracted to the role as my best friend went through the homeless pathway and I felt that I had the knack for getting involved with this sector.
What is your career background?
I previously worked at a Pupil Referral Unit in Reading working with vulnerable young people.
What does your role here at Launchpad entail?
Working as a specialist within the Floating Support team, my role is to support long-term clients as well as other service users. I also run drop-in surgeries within the organisation, and I am an anti-social behaviour specialist within the Pods on Caversham Road which Launchpad has managed since April 2024.
What do you enjoy about working here?
Every day is different, and you never know who will come through the door or who you may be a voice for. Working with a great team and sharing knowledge to get the best outcome is very rewarding.
Are there any challenges within your role?
There are always challenges whether its funding/policies or legislations within the sector but ultimately the lack of affordable housing available for people will always be the top issue we are dealing with.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I enjoy going to the gym and watching Greys Anatomy.
