Do you have skills you could share by becoming a trustee at Launchpad?
We are currently in the process of recruiting new trustees for the Board.
As a trustee you would play a crucial role in shaping the future of our charity, which has been part of the Reading landscape since 1979, growing from a humble soup kitchen to supporting 1,000s of people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
As a trustee, you would be part of a dedicated team who would help steer our strategy, guide decision making and ensure we remain true to our mission of preventing homelessness in Reading.
We are looking for people who share our commitment to empathy, inclusion and action – individuals who bring fresh perspectives and expertise, as well as a genuine desire to make a difference.
Our current chair, Sean Sutcliffe, said: “Whether you have experience in governance, finance, housing, social services, or simply a passion to support a local homeless charity, your contribution will help us continue to support people in Reading who need us the most.”
Anyone is welcome to apply to be a trustee, you do not need to have previous experience of being a charitable trustee.
We are particularly interested in meeting people who have experience of accounting, housing or project development, marketing and fundraising, influencing a local community or personal experience of being homeless, mental health issues or addition.
To enhance our diversity, we welcome applications from people from ethnic minority background, all gender groups and/or with a disability and people from the LGBTQI+ community, as well as young people aged between 18 and 25.
Trustees are expected to attend quarterly Board meetings and key fundraising events. We also have a number of sub-committees which meet regularly, and trustees are expected to join at least one of these.
Overall, the commitment would be four to five days a year.
