Groups of local students have been working hard as part of the NCS (National Citizenship Scheme) to raise money for Launchpad.
The NCS is a government-backed programme for teenagers aged 16-17 from different backgrounds and encourages them to work together in a bid to empower, engage and unite young people and serve their communities.
The NCS Yellow Team from Wokingham took part in a sponsored walk at Dinton Pastures on 15 July and raised a brilliant £778.
Another NCS team from Kendrick School in Reading washed cars at Wycliffe Baptist Church on 13 July raising a fabulous £125.70.
Launchpad provided the teams with t-shirts and other fundraising merchandise to help with their fundraising efforts.
Vicki Lewis, fundraising manager at Launchpad said: “The teams have done a great job working together to raise money and we are so honoured that this group of young people from our local community have chosen to support Launchpad.
“With their help, we can continue providing a lifeline to vulnerable people in Reading via our supported housing, our homelessness prevention work and Launchpad 135, our work and life skills centre.
“We know our vital services will be in demand more than ever as the cost of living continues to rise, which will leave many individuals, couples and families homeless or at risk of losing their home so fundraisers like the NCS teams are incredibly important to Launchpad.”
The NCS Wokingham team said: “Thanks to all who have supported us; we have all enjoyed the experience and also many thanks to the amazing charity Launchpad for all it has done and big thank you to NCS for giving us the opportunity to be included in these projects.”
