Winners of the 2026 Pancake Race - AirIT - dressed as Scooby Doo characters take a winning leap.

Flip! Pancake races and NO rain = broad smiles on Broad Street!

Reading’s Broad Street saw a flurry of flying pancakes on Shrove Tuesday as Launchpad’s 29th annual Pancake Race took place—raising an impressive £10,393.57 for our essential services supporting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Reading.

A cracking twenty-one teams, representing local businesses and community groups, competed for first place and the chance to claim the famous frying pan trophy.

Crowds gathered to enjoy a series of fun-filled knock-out races, building up to a fiercely competitive final. The event was expertly compered by long-time Launchpad supporter Andy Briggs, much to the delight of hundreds of spectators—including the Mayor of Reading, Dr Alice Mpofu-Coles, who presented the prizes.

In the end, Air IT emerged victorious in their brilliant Scooby Doo–inspired outfits, claiming the coveted frying pan trophy and becoming our 29th champions. They were rewarded with a cocktail masterclass for four courtesy of The Roseate Hotel.

Our second-place team, Rowberry Morris, won free drinks and a day pass at the Novotel Hotel, while third place, Evoke Transport, enjoyed an afternoon tea courtesy of Crumbs.
