Marketing and Communications Officer (12 month fixed-term contract)

1 x full-time (37 hours per week), salary circa £27,000-£29,000 per annum FTE depending on skills and experience.  This role is a 12 month fixed term contract.

ABOUT LAUNCHPAD

Launchpad provides vital information and support for vulnerable individuals, couples and families in Reading who do not have a stable place to live or are at risk of losing their home.  Founded as a soup kitchen in 1979 by students at the University of Reading, the charity now provides a holistic service that works in three ways – we prevent homelessness, provide homes and rebuild lives.

During the global pandemic, Launchpad remained open and our teams have been working tirelessly to ensure extremely vulnerable people in Reading continue to receive the help they desperately need.  But this work won’t stop when the lockdown eases – we anticipate there will be even more people in housing crisis because of issues such as evictions, redundancy and mental health.

THIS ROLE

The Marketing and Communications Officer will play a big part in supporting Launchpad’s vital work over the next year.  Whether you are liaising with support teams to tell our client’s stories, helping the fundraising team to promote the charity’s latest challenge event or planning content for the monthly e-newsletter – your marketing and communications expertise will help raise awareness of Launchpad, build our community and have a real impact on local people in need.

Previous experience of working within marketing and communications, preferably in a charity, is required.  You must have comprehensive digital marketing experience to include managing and creating content for social media channels; creating, editing and publishing website content; using analytics to report activity; and producing and sending audience-relevant content via email marketing platforms. You must also have excellent attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills and strong project management skills with an ability to prioritise, manage a varied workload and work to deadlines.
