Floating Support Officer

1 x full-time (37 hours per week), Salary circa £22,440 per annum FTE depending on skills and experience.

Our Floating Support Services are provided to help develop our clients’ skills and confidence to prevent homelessness.  The areas we support include tenancy sustainment, benefits and budgeting, wellbeing, education, employment and training.

This exciting opportunity will involve you working with clients on a range of issues and help develop strategies with them to prevent homelessness, resettle into new accommodation and focus support on identified areas of need.  You will have multi-agency working experience along with experience of dealing with mental health issues, substance misuse and working with offenders.  You will also have previous experience of managing your own caseload of clients.

Housing Manager

1 x full-time (37 hours per week), Salary circa £32,500 per annum FTE depending on skills and experience.

We are a registered charity for people experiencing homelessness, and help some of Reading’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged people to turn their lives around and fulfil their potential.  We are looking for applications from individuals who share our passion to make a difference and who can provide support to transform people’s lives. 

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Housing Manager ensures that all Launchpad’s properties are managed efficiently and are at maximum occupancy levels to reduce homelessness in Reading whilst ensuring that income collection is properly controlled.

Managing, monitoring and motivating a team of six, comprising Housing Officers, Income and Accounts Officer and Maintenance Officers, the Housing Manager is responsible for their training and development ensuring good two-way communication.  The postholder will proactively ensure good Customer Service, incorporating tenants’ views in all service delivery, and is responsible for ensuring that legal / statutory / good practice requirements are maintained at all times.

 THE CANDIDATE

Combined with your experience of dealing with tenants in a supported housing environment and of managing arrears, you also have experience of managing maintenance and property stock conditions.  Your extensive knowledge of Housing Law in Supported Housing, combined with different types of tenancies, including licence agreements, enables you to lead your team confidently ensuring the effective delivery of your service.  Strong IT, organisational and people skills are very important, as are your attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret data to improve the service continuously and to react responsively and creatively to matters that arise.  You are educated to A‑Level standard and ideally hold a Chartered Institute of Housing qualification, or equivalent by experience.
